3 TIPS FOR A STRESS FREE FAMILY PHOTOSHOOT

1, PLAN OUTFITS IN ADVANCE

I highly, highly recommend you figure out what you want to wear to your photoshoot BEFORE the week of your session. There’s enough to worry about within a week without trying to brainstorm and coordinate clothing for each of your family members the SAME week you plan to get your photos done. It’s not always easy to plan ahead, but it’s definitely worth it to take the time.

A family photoshoot is an investment, and if you plan to spend the money - I want you to get the best experience and best finished product as possible. If you plan ahead, you’ll have more time to really think about what style you want to wear and incorporate - and your photographer may even be able to help you find the perfect pieces of clothing (if they offer styling help!).

2. MAKE THE DAY ALL ABOUT YOUR FAMILY

If you’ve decided to book a family session - I assume it’s because you want those sweet family memories to look back on. The hour of your session is ALL about your fam just lovin’ on each other and enjoying being together.

It absolutely helps if you can really take the day to focus on FAMILY. That might mean going out for dinner before your session, taking time to play a game with your little ones, or planning to get ice cream after your photoshoot. Basically, whatever you love to do as a family, I recommend doing. It can really help you relax during the session and be in the mindset of enjoying the hour with your family.

3. DON’T STRESS ABOUT THE CHAOS

Whether it’s tickling, running around, being silly, playing peek a boo, etc… if I am your photographer, I’ll be aiming to capture real memories and BEAUTIFUL CHAOS of being together as a family. If your family loves to cuddle, that’s what we’ll do! If they love to be crazy and tell jokes and laugh, that’s what we’ll do. If they love to explore, we’ll all go exploring. The hour is not about smiling and looking at the camera, the hour is about fully enjoying each other, whatever that means for your unique family…

I hope these few tips help with your next family session, and you’re able to enjoy it to the fullest!
